Jake helped him understand all the benefits of fine tuning, and shared much of what he had learned while living at the Olympic training center under the watchful eye of Coach Lee.

Recently, he changed his coaching staff to Dick Tone and Kevin Ikegami. He is an active member of the Papago Archery Association in Phoenix and on the coaching staff of the American Archery Academy located in Tempe AZ.

Matthew volunteers as a coach at the Wapsie Warrior Joad Cedar Rapids IA under head coach Vance Patrilla. They have more than 40 students on a weekly basis. Several past students went on to become resident athletes at the Olympic training facility.
